Guide to Paint Metal Surfaces
For painting any MS or metal surfaces, use solvent based Epoxy Primers as under coats and solvent based PU top coats. This increases life of the surface by protecting it from corrosion and rust. Before painting, ensure the surface is free from rust, grease, oil, dust and other contaminants, then use the primer and paint. It is ideal to allow a gap of one night between the primer and paint coats.
Use rust remover to remove rust if necessary. Single pack primers are not advised where longevity is required.
(I) For best results, use the following system for metal surfaces for increasing life of metal by eight to ten years with no re-coating intervals-
First Coat- 1001 Epoxy Red Oxide Primer ST
Second Coat- 1001 Epoxy Zinc Phosphate Primer Grey 16% ST or 1001 Epoxy Zinc Rich Primer ST
Top Coat- 1001 Aliphatic PU paint for Exterior or 1001 Aromatic PU Paint for Interior
(II) For five to seven years life follow the system below-
First Coat- Elite Epoxy Red Oxide Primer ST
Second Coat- Elite Epoxy Zinc Phosphate Primer Grey 8% ST or Elite Epoxy Zinc Rich Primer ST
Top Coat- 1001 Aliphatic PU paint for Exterior or 1001 Aromatic PU Paint for Interior
(III) For two to four years life and making painting economical follow the system below-
First Coat- Infinity Epoxy Red Oxide Primer ST
Second Coat- Infinity Epoxy Zinc Phosphate Primer Grey 4% ST or Infinity Epoxy Zinc Rich Primer ST
Top Coat- 1001 Aliphatic PU paint for Exterior or 1001 Aromatic PU Paint for Interior or Elite Epoxy Paints ST
